Strawberries. Cream. Perfect pastry. Need I say anything more? Something about the daintiness of these tarts pleases me immeasurably. When I take a bite everything stops and I am in a brief moment of pure bliss. I imagine these would perch prettily on a tiered cake stand for an afternoon high tea along with quaint pastries and cucumber sandwiches without crusts. I see groups of stylish women with steaming cups of tea, pinkies standing at attention.
This would be up there as one of my favourite sweet treats from the Market. Dough have a fabulous array of pastries on show. I’ve had a few now and can vouch for all of those I’ve tried. This definitely takes the cake for me though, pardon the pun. At $4 each the price is pretty sweet too.
I’m getting a little sad at the thought that I only have one more treat of the week to go from the Adelaide Central Market…. I think I might have to make it a big one….


Oh man! They are divine! Along with the chocolate pistachio tarts, and their savoury leek and gruyere. You are definitely going to miss Adelaide!
They are amazing aren’t they? And yes love the chocolate pistachio and leek/gruyere tarts too! I am so going to miss it here, I will definitely have to pop back for visits every now and then.
